Nigeria Women Premier League side, Osun Babes Football Club has appointed former Osun United assistant coach, Rauf Yekeen Ayodeji, as its new Head Coach for the 2019/2020 NWPL season.
The position of the team’s Head Coach became vacant after the Liadi Bashir led technical crew was dismissed at the end of the 2018/2019 season after they missed being relegated by whisker.
The Omoluabi Queens management had in October confirmed the appointment of Mike Ekpenyong as the team’s coach but the state commissioner for Youth and Sports Hon Yemi Lawal Azeez order for a new backroom staff and coach for the team.
The Screening which took place in Oshogbo on Friday saw entry from not less than 27 coaches which includes top former coaches in the league but Ayodeji triumphed after meeting up with the management requirements.
Ayodeji will be assisted by Olayinka Oyeleye and Komolafe Awotayo, while Segun Awopetu will continue as the Goalkeeper Trainer of the team while Kehinde Salami and Wakili Daramola were retained as Welfare Officer and Curator respectively.
He will be unveil and introduced to the players on Tuesday December 10, at the Osogbo Township Stadium.
However, the club will resume training on Tuesday December 10 in preparation for the 2019/2020 NWPL season.
The Omoluabi Queens players and backroom staff have been asked to resume for training at the Sports Complex of Fountain University, the team training ground.
The management committee of the team, noted that the team will start with open screening, while invited players interested to join the team are advised to be in Oshogbo on Sunday and Monday as the first pre-season training session commence on Tuesday morning.
The team secretary Mrs. Aderonke Ogunbanwo Ajibola, said the retained players from last season squad will on Tuesday meet with the new coach Yekeen Ayodeji, and will thereafter map out the 2019/2020 season programs.
“We are reporting back to training on Tuesday December 10, to prepare for the new season, we have asked our players to report unfailingly on Monday, which thereafter we will strategies on how best we shall approach the season.
“We will be starting with open screening, and thereafter the technical crew will focus on invited players, where the best players will be picked to meet with the team aspirations.
“We want to quickly swing into action and prepare well for the new season, we want all players to resume on this date as we’re in for real business ahead of next season.”
