Desire Oparanozie has dispelled rumours that her relationship with Asisat Oshoala is strained because of the Super Falcons captaincy.
The former Guingamp striker was stripped of the armband and handed over to four-time African Footballer of the Year Oshoala.
Oparanozie told journalist Godwin Enakhena there is no iota of truth in the speculations.
”Wow! This is the creation of some people or the media but it is far from the truth. Oshoala was my Vice Captain during my short tenure as captain of the Super Falcons and we related very well. Till today, we still talk when the need arises,” She told Godwin Enakhena.
“She is my best friend and I can tell her my deepest secrets and trust her with my life that she won’t tell anyone” .
The strong attacker also expressed her shock on Super Falcons snub, according to her,
“I understand that there was a change in the coaching personnel but I was surprised when I wasn’t invited. Maybe the coach doesn’t like my style of play but no one till date has spoken to me about the decision not to invite me. However, Nigeria is bigger than anyone and we must put her first in all we do,” she concluded.
The former Bayelsea Queens attacker is expected to join a new club as his contract with French club, Guingamp has expired.
