Paul Pogba has decided to see out his contract with Manchester United and join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer, according to reports.

The World Cup winner has entered the final year of his current deal with United and has not reached an agreement over an extension.

Pogba will not be short of options next year if he is available as a free agent with Paris Saint-Germain already expressing an interest this summer.

But according to the Daily Star, Pogba has already decided that his next destination will be Real Madrid and is planning to join the Spanish club after the season ends.

The report claims that Madrid are planning a major squad overhaul and are looking to bring in Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe as well as Pogba.

Mbappe has also entered the final year of his contract with PSG and could also potentially join Madrid on a free transfer.

Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, demanded in excess of £150 million from Chelsea for Haaland this summer but the Norway international has a clause in his contract which will enable him to leave next year for a fee between €75m (£64m) and €100m (£85m).

Pogba reminded United supporters of his quality in their 5-1 victory over Leeds United on Saturday.

The 28-year-old registered a record-breaking four assists in United’s Premier League opener and delivered a commanding display at the heart of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield.

When asked to rate Pogba’s display against Leeds, Solskjaer replied: ‘Impressive, Paul’s always got that vision, he’s got that quality.

‘I know the headlines will probably be about Bruno but it’s a team effort, the space Mason [Greenwood] creates for Bruno to open up the channels, what everyone does ahead of the goals has been worked on this week.

‘Paul, I’m very impressed with his fitness levels as well, he’s not been with us for too long and he looks fit, raring to go, enjoying his football.

‘I love Paul bringing all his boys smiling when they’re playing football.’
