Midfielder Paul Pogba has returned to pre-season training with Manchester United ahead of the new Premier League campaign, joining up with the Reds’ squad at their training camp in Scotland.
Pogba, who is out of contract at Old Trafford next summer, returned to England last week after a period of holidaying following France’s early exit at the European Championship.
The Reds had originally planned to flock to Malta for a warm-weather training camp this month but arrived in Scotland on Monday, meaning Pogba will not have missed too much preparation time with the rest of the squad.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking to put his final plans into practice with their Premier League opener against Leeds United at Old Trafford now just over a week away.
Before locking horns with the Whites, United will face Everton in the final pre-season outing on Saturday, also at Old Trafford.
Although the game with the Toffees is still a few days away, it is possible that Pogba could get some valuable minutes under his belt ahead of the competitive action getting started a week later.
In pictures released by the Reds, Pogba was spotted doing some jogging, suggesting that he was picking up the pace and increasing his fitness levels as the countdown to the big kick-off continues.
Pogba is not the only United player to have only recently reported back for pre-season training, with David De Gea, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof all recently returning after their time away at the European Championship with Spain, England and Sweden, respectively.
Although Pogba has been absent from the United squad for much of pre-season, he has still been a dominant topic, with question marks currently surrounding his future.
He is out-of-contract in less than a year’s time and has been linked with a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Nevertheless, United boss Solskjaer, following his side’s 4-2 defeat to QPR just over a week ago, admitted that the France international – still sporting blue hair – is looking forward to the forthcoming campaign.
“There’s always speculation about Paul and clubs being interested, and we’ve seen Paul at his best,” said Solskjaer.
“Paul knows what we feel about it and I’ve enjoyed my time working with him and hopefully we can work together.
“The talks between the club and Paul’s representatives, I’m not in the detail of every single one of them. I’ve got nothing to say about that. Let’s see what happens.
“The talks are ongoing between Paul’s representatives and the club representatives. All the dialogue I’ve had with Paul is he’s looking forward to the season.”
