Police Ladies’ Ruth Appiah labels Women’s Champions League ‘a big deal’

Police Ladies star Ruth Appiah has welcomed the news that CAF will launch the maiden Women’s Champions League in 2001 and described it as a big deal.

Speaking with NB Sports, the Black Queens player said:”I am very excited, I think when the Women’s Champions League is introduced it will create a lot of avenues and help players to excel. It will also expose us to agents.

”Personally, I also think it will help the national teams as well, because it will make our league very competitive, because every club would want to do their best in order to represent the country at  Caf.”

Speaking on the benefits clubs will derive from participating in the competition, the WAFU Zone B gold medalist said this will help club administrators ascertain how the women’s game has developed.

”This will make club owners get more serious with their team in terms of branding and to get sponsorship deals for their clubs,” she added.

”It will else ease the financial burden on players since money will be involved.”
