Real Madrid could approve Martin Odegaard to Arsenal transfer on one condition – Football.London

Arsenal have not given up in their pursuit of Martin Odegaard this summer, football.london understands.

We brought you the news on Monday that the Gunners are still hopeful of re-signing the 22-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium, despite the Norway midfielder confirming that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Real Madrid.

Odegaard bid an emotional farewell to the Arsenal fan base following the end of his loan spell, with a statement that looked like his connection to north London was over.

“@Arsenal, Thank you so much for these 6 months,” he wrote on Instagram after his loan spell ended.

“My time with the Arsenal family will always hold a special place in my heart.

“I wanna thank everyone in and around the club for the way you made me feel like a part of the family since the first day.

“Special thanks to the fans, even without you guys at the stadium for the majority of the season, I felt you with me at all times.

“A huge thank you to the boss and his staff for everything I’ve learned during my stay. Thank you also to all my teammates for such a great time on and off the pitch.

“Will miss you all. Thank you, gunners family. Always in my heart.”

However, Odegaard remains a target for Mikel Arteta as he looks to bring in a new creative midfielder to bolster his attacking options at the club.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid could look to sell the Norway international before the transfer window shuts, but on one condition.

The Italian football journalist said on Twitter: “It’s up to Real Madrid more than to Odegaard… If they keep Isco, they could decide to sell Martin. Let’s see. Nothing decided yet.”

Isco's future could have a big impact on whether Martin Odegaard is sold this summer
Isco’s future could have a big impact on whether Martin Odegaard is sold this summer

Isco, who has been at Los Blancos for over eight years now, has just 12 months remaining on his deal in the Spanish capital, meaning Carlo Ancelotti could look to offload the 29-year-old to generate some sort of funds.

However, if Madrid do sell Isco, then this could spell bad news for Arteta and Arsenal, who want to bring Odegaard back to north London, whether that be on a permanent or temporary basis.
