Romelu Lukaku’s worst Man Utd moment a pointed message to Thomas Tuchel amid £110m Chelsea links – Football.London

Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku is a proven goalscorer.

Wherever he has gone he has netted an impressive amount of goals, which is the reason the Blues have reportedly been quoted a £110million price tag from his current club, Inter Milan.

The current champions of Europe have made signing the 28-year-old their priority this month after Borussia Dortmund appear unwilling to allow wonderkid Erling Haaland to leave this summer.

football.london understands that Chelsea have seen three bids for Lukaku knocked back in recent weeks, with Goal reporting that the London club are readying an offer of €130million (£111m) in the coming days.

The Belgian frontman has shown during his time with the Italian giants that he will always find the back of the net, notching a whopping 64 goals and 16 assists in just 95 appearances for the Nerazzurri.

Lukaku also enjoyed fruitful spells in the Premier League with West Brom and Everton, scoring a combined 104 goals in 204 games, numbers that read even more impressive considering he was at the two clubs between the ages of 19 and 24.

However, his two-year stint at Manchester United wasn’t held in the same high regard, with a large section of the Red Devils’ supporters growing frustrated at his inconsistencies in front of goal.

The 28-year-old fell out of favour under current United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before he was shipped to Inter in the summer of 2019 and some Chelsea fans have cited his spell at Old Trafford as a reason to doubt his ability to consistently produce for an elite side in the English top-flight.

Still, Twitter user SonOfChelsea pointed out that he still scored 15 times across all competitions during his worst season at United, a tally that would have made him the Blues’ top scorer last term as Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner lead the way with 12 goals each.

Furthermore, Lukaku played the majority of his games under Jose Mourinho’s tutelage, with the Portuguese coach often deploying a defensive formation that didn’t play to the Belgian’s strengths.

In fact, the prolific striker illustrated that he can consistently produce in England during his final season with Everton as he bagged 25 goals and six assists in the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
