Former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson believes Cristiano Ronaldo should have been handed a start in his side’s 1-1 draw with Everton over the weekend.
Ronaldo started from the bench together with Pogba and Ferguson believes his absence provided Everton with a boost as they secured a point at Old Trafford. The Portuguese was introduced when the Red Devils were led by 1-0 and was unable to help as Andros Townsend scored a leveler to snatch a point for the Toffees.
Fergie was filmed after the game talking to UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In a video posted on social media by the Russian, Ferguson is heard saying Everton were given a boost “when they saw Ronaldo wasn’t playing.”
After Nurmagomedov – who retired with a 29-0 record last year – points out Ronaldo came on in the second half, the Scot replied: “Yeah I know… but you should always start with your best players.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have won just two of their last six matches.
