Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is ‘excited’ by the quality of the Manchester United squad he has assembled and believes they can win any trophy in the upcoming campaign.
United get their season underway on Saturday when they host Leeds at Old Trafford and know they need a positive result to set the pace in the Premier League.
Solskjaer is still hunting his first trophy as United boss and the club is looking to end a drought which is guaranteed to move into its fifth year.
In order to do so United have signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton in the summer window, three deals which have bolstered and already impressive squad.
The United manager believes he has what is needed for a successful campaign but thinks it is now down to the players to fulfil their potential and show their commitment to the cause.
“I’m excited by the squad,” he told Sky Sports. “I don’t think anything is beyond these boys. It’s just how we fare between now and the end of the season.
“How much sacrifice, how much discipline, how much team camaraderie, how much consistency, how much hard work, blood, sweat and tears – all these qualities and cliches.
“If you want to be the best you have to live like the best, you have to work as the best and perform every three days. It’s going to be tough, but it is possible, definitely.”
