Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Jerry Tshabalala is excited to have won the inaugural SAFA National Women’s League without defeated.

Tshabalala and her ladies have qualified to play at the first-ever CAF Women’s Champions League.

”The feeling I’m way too excited about us winning the league. The whole idea was to win the league which we achieved,” said Tshabalala.

Speaking on the inaugural Confederation of African Football Women’s Champions League competition, he said: ”The champions league has come as a cherry on top and I want the team to go out there and bring it home and us winning the league it is a milestone that we will forever cherish and will go down in the history books.

”We are joining the elite of the footballing world by having the men and the women sides playing in the Champions League, teams like Manchester City, FC Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint- Germain are some of the powerhouses of football that have representatives in both sections.

”If you ask anyone who was the first team coach to win SWNL it will always be Mamelodi Sundowns and Jerry Tshabalala. It hasn’t sunk in yet that we would be representing South Africa in the Champions League, I’ll only believe it the day we play our first game.”

CAF is yet to give details on how the competition would be played.
