Swindon Town star shows Chelsea message at Friday night Manchester City FA Cup clash – Football.London

Swindon Town striker Harry McKirdy showed off his hilarious custom Chelsea kit bag ahead of the side’s FA Cup tie with Manchester City on Friday night.

The League Two outfit faced a strong City lineup, which featured a number of first-team players along with a few academy products in Cole Palmer and Zack Steffen.

The Premier League leaders comfortably took control of the tie, scoring three quick goals to lead the game, before McKirdy pulled one back for the hosts.

Palmer then scored a fantastic individual effort to seal the tie and take a 4-1 win into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

It means the Blues could face their Premier League rivals if they manage to navigate past lower league opposition of their own.

Thomas Tuchel will lead his side against Chesterfield at Stamford Bridge as they look to book their place in the next round.

The German coach will be wanting to avoid a giant killing to progress into the latter rounds, with the Blues looking to go one further than their previous two seasons, where they reached the final but lost.

However, ahead of Swindon’s game with Pep Guardiola’s side, McKirdy made a hilarious nod to Chelsea.

Taking to his Instagram story, he put a photo of his kit bag that he brought in, with a custom pattern on it.

The picture was that of Kai Havertz’s chip over Ederson to win Chelsea the Champions League last season, referencing both the Blues and his opponents on the night.

The goal in Porto gave the Blues their second Champions League trophy in their history, a historic victory under Tuchel.
