Saul Niguez holds a very intriguing statistic in his career as he continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea.
If reports are to be believed, the Blues have been offered the services of the Atletico Madrid midfielder, as he looks set to depart to Wanda Metropolitano.
He has been nudged down the pecking order by summer arrival Rodrigo de Paul and could potentially arrive at Stamford Bridge on loan with an option to buy come the conclusion of that initial deal.
Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old and should he end up arriving in the Premier League before deadline day, he brings with him a very interesting statistic indeed.
According to transfermarkt, Saul has done battle with English sides on 10 occasions throughout his career – most commonly on the European stage.
He has faced off against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester City and more interestingly Chelsea. Throughout those 10 separate games, Saul has been part of four victories, three draws and three defeats.
Intriguingly enough, he has earned a win against each of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals in the past, whilst never having managed to overcome his potential future employers in four separate clashes.
All coming in the Champions League, he was twice on the losing side in Madrid whilst earning a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge during the 2017/18 season during the group stages of the competition.
It all means that Saul is undefeated against English sides other than Chelsea, a record he will surely be keen to continue should he complete a switch to Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, he also has the useful record of having found the net against three out of the four sides too, netting at Stamford Bridge in 2017, the King Power Stadium that same year and during a home clash against Liverpool during the 2019/20 campaign.
