Thomas Tuchel has already made his feelings on Chelsea clear as Barcelona target German coach – Football.London

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly considering the possibility of making a move for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of next season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club are interested in making a shock move for the German coach with Ronald Koeman widely expected to be relieved of his duties in the coming weeks.

Barca are currently in sixth-place in La Liga after failing to win in three of their opening six league matches and Koeman has come under increasing pressure in the hot-seat at the Nou Camp.

Laporta is said to have already made his mind up on the former Everton boss and the club will make an official announcement as soon as the president finds a suitable replacement for the Dutchman.

Tuchel is said to be an option, alongside River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo and Belgium boss Roberto Martinez.

But Tuchel is thought to be Barca’s main target as Laporta looks to lure the German away from Chelsea.

The former Paris Saint-Germain head coach recently signed a two-year contract extension following Chelsea’s Champions League triumph earlier this year and made his feelings perfectly clear on the west London club following the renewal.

“I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family,” Tuchel said in early-June.

“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.”

When Tuchel arrived at Chelsea, it was unclear how he would adapt to life in the Premier League and especially at a club like the Blues, who are notoriously ruthless with their managers.

However, Tuchel has managed to prove Gary Neville wrong, with the former Manchester United defender admitting that in May.

He said: “To be fair, since he’s come in, their fortunes, defensively, have changed, Tuchel has made them brilliant defensively and he is a big part of that.

“The impact on Chelsea, getting to a Champions League final, finishing where they are now in the league compared to where they are.”

Chelsea supporters will be desperate for Tuchel to stay around for the foreseeable future after what he has already achieved at the club since taking over from Frank Lampard in January.

As well as this, Barcelona’s recent financial troubles make it difficult to believe that the club could lure Tuchel to La Liga.
