Trevoh Chalobah is backing Chelsea to continue to show their quality against Manchester City this weekend.
The Blues are top of the Premier League pile so far and have already dispatched Arsenal and Tottenham comfortably while holding Liverpool to a draw when down to ten men.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have the division’s best defensive record and have netted the second most goals behind Manchester United.
It’s a record that appears to stem from the mentality instilled in the Chelsea squad.
Chalobah told the official Chelsea website: “We’ve got a very strong team which can go on. We’ve got to make sure we prepare right, go in and get ready for Saturday. That’s what’s important and everyone’s looking forward to it.
“We’re very confident, full of belief with the quality players that we have. We go into every game, no matter who we play, ready to be ruthless in front of goal and defend our box as well. I think we’ve done that very well so far this year.”
It’s still early in the season but the 22-year-old is under no illusion of the importance of the clash with Pep Guardiola’s side, with just three points separating the teams and any advantage being crucial.
It will be the fourth time Tuchel and co have met the Premier League champions since April, with the German coach managing to guide Chelsea to three victories.
Chalobah knows the dangers City still hold, however.
“It’s very important, it’s massive for us because of where we both are in the league right now,” he continued.
“I think we’ve done well in big games this season against big opponents and it’s another chance for us to go out there and show what we’ve got, what we’re about.
“The way we’ve started this season, we should go into the game full of confidence. They’re a very good side, full of quality players and we know the dangers they can cause, but we’ll be ready for them.”
