Ada Hegerberg equaled Anja Mittag’s UEFA women’s club competition record of 51 goals with two in Lyon’s 100th match in Europe – only the Norwegian striker’s 49th.
German forward Mittag, who retired in May 2019, became the first player to 50 goals in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and predecessor UEFA Women’s Cup on 11 October 2017 for Rosengård against Olimpia Cluj in the round of 32.
The German international won two titles with first club Turbine Potsdam and moved for her first spell at Swedish outfit Rosengård, where she returned after playing for Paris Saint-Germain and Wolfsburg.
She took 68 games to get to 50 goals but Hegerberg only needed 49 when she converted a penalty away to Fortuna Hjørring on 16 October 2019, scoring again later to equal Mittag’s final tally of 51.
Hegerberg got two in Europe for both Stabæk and Turbine Potsdam before joining Lyon in 2014, a key part of their domination in recent seasons.
