New Manchester United signing Raphael Varane has revealed the five club legends that he has always looked up to.
After a long wait, the Frenchman was finally officially unveiled at Old Trafford on Saturday just before the match between the Red Devils and Leeds United.
He will wear the number 19 shirt at Old Trafford, which he displayed on his official unveiling.
The 28-year-old has been one of the best defenders in recent seasons and has a chance of playing for a club he came close to joining back in 2011.
In his first interview as a United player, Varane revealed he admired Man United duo of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand during their playing days at Old Trafford.
“Of course, Vidic and Ferdinand were legends and a legendary duo, you know,” Varane said, referring to two of the club’s best defenders in recent history.
Adding: “I remember players like Cristiano, Giggs, and Beckham also. They are legends and I’m very proud to be part of this family,”
The defender has joined his new teammates at the Carrington training ground as he gets ready to make his debut.
