Ghana’s safest pair of hands, Fafali Dumehasi played a yo-man’s role as her save clinched bronze for the Black Queens against Mali in a pulsating penalty shootout (8-7) at the WAFU competition.

The female senior national team failed to find the back of the net in their last three games as they were held by Mali in regulation time for the third-placed match.

After losing out cruelly to Nigeria on sudden death, the Black Queens put their woes aside and dispatched their penalties with unerring confidence to claim the bronze medal ahead of Mali.

The win was facilitated by ‘captain fantastic’ Fafali Dumehasi as she made a crucial save to propel Ghana to another podium finish in the WAFU Zone B competition.

Technically, the Police Ladies shot-stopper maintained a clean sheet in all five games played at the tournament.

Ghana’s Janet Ama Egyir was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the match.
