Host, Cote D’Ivoire, brushed aside group opponents Togo in the opening game of the ongoing WAFU competition scoring five without a reply.

The 2017 finalists made light work of fellow French speaking nation – Togo – in an entertaining yet one-sided match which saw the homesters run away with the first three points of the competition and a healthy goal difference.

Tokpoledo Rolande opened the floodgates after eleven minutes before Diakite Binta and Cuosso Eperance Agbo added their names to the score sheet in the 30th and 37th minute respectively.

Koko Ange Nguesan added insults to injury eight minutes after the half time break before Kouadio Adjoua Sandrine added the icing on the cake in additional time.

Play maker and fourth goalscorer Koko Ange Nguessan claimed the Most Valuable Player (MVP) after the first game.

The win sends the host on top of Group A at least temporarily if Ghana does not score more than their next-door neighbours.
