The dust has settled and the girls have been separated from the women.

Hosts, La Cote D’Ivoire became the first side to book their ticket in the finals whiles Nigeria got the better of eternal nemesis Ghana.

Cote D’Ivoire kicked off the competition on a bright note with a convincing 5-0 win against Togo and followed it up with another win against Senegal and were held by last year winners Ghana in their final group game.

The elephants were on the verge of collapse until they rescued themselves from disappointment and regrets with a 2-1 comeback victory against emerging forces, Mali in the semifinals.

Nigeria on the other hand never broke a sweat in sweeping aside their group opponents amassing nine points in three games with an avalanche of goals – 22 goals.

The only team to halt the Nigerian goalscoring machine was Ghana but went past their rivals via penalties.

The stage is now set for a new champion to dethrone Ghana on Saturday as Cote D’Ivoire play Nigeria in what promises to be a sumptuous final.
