Play maker and fourth goalscorer for Cote D’Ivoire in the opening game against Togo, Koko Ange Nguessan, claimed the maiden Most Valuable Player (MVP) award as her side flogged Togo 5-0 in the WAFU Zone B competition.
Tokpoledo Rolande opened the floodgates for the host after eleven minutes before Diakite Binta and Cuosso Eperance Agbo added their names to the score sheet in the 30th and 37th minute respectively.
Eventual MVP winner, Koko Ange Nguesan added insults to injury eight minutes after the half time break before Kouadio Adjoua Sandrine added the icing on the cake in additional time.
The win sends Koko Ange Nguessan and her teammates to the summit of Group A with superior goal advantage ahead of Ghana.
Cote D’Ivoire will take a rest for today before seeking their second win on Friday which will book their spot in the semifinals against Senegal – who lost to Ghana.
