Hat trick heroine, Uchenna Grace Kanu, was delighted after claiming the Most Valuable Player award in Nigeria’s resounding victory over Burkina Faso.
Uchenna Grace Kanu became the first player of the this year’s tournament to bag a hat trick as Nigeria flogged Burkina Faso 5-1 in Group B’s opener.
Speaking to NBSportslive after her side’s perfect start to the competition she said:
“It [winning the MVP award] means a lot to me. Been able to represent my country is a big deal for me and been able to get this [MVP] tonight.
“I am [pretty] excited and I’m hoping to put in my best in the subsequent games and make sure I keep doing what I’m doing.”
Nigeria will play Niger in their second group game at the Parc de Sports on Saturday, May 11.
