Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was left beaming as he met Lionel Messi following the Argentine’s Paris Saint-Germain unveiling.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner announced that he was leaving Barcelona last week via an emotional press conference at the Camp Nou, with the French giants immediately being installed as the favourites for his signature.
In the end, Messi indeed ended up signing for the Ligue 1 outfit, penning a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes, with the option for an extra season.
Upon the announcement of his arrival in the French capital, Messi said: “I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career at Paris Saint-Germain.
“Everything about the club matches my football ambitions. I know how talented the squad and the coaching staff are here.
“I am determined to help build something special for the club and the fans, and I am looking forward to stepping out onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes.”
Following another press conference after his arrival at PSG, Messi was then given the opportunity to meet teammates and club officials in a video released by Sky Sports.
He was shown embracing the likes of former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, ex-Chelsea target Achraf Hakimi and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, among others.
Messi was spotted hugging Pochettino, the two having briefly crossed paths on the pitch in the early 2000s.
The ex-Spurs boss was seen with a beaming smile across his face, an aspect that is not all that surprising considering that he now has one of the greatest players of all time at his disposal.
