Arsenal could be set to miss out on another reported transfer target with Odsonne Edouard seemingly close to joining Leicester City.
The Celtic forward has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta aims to bolster his front line following a hugely disappointing 2020/21 campaign.
However, it had been reported that Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester were also hugely interested and could potentially agree a deal soon.
The Times reported that a transfer could even have been sanctioned once Edouard’s current employers Celtic appointed their new boss Ange Postecoglou.
Confirmation of his arrival came on Thursday morning, with the Greek-born Australian switching from Yokohama F Marinos and finally being installed as Neil Lennon’s replacement at Celtic Park.
It could mean that Edouard may soon be on his way to the King Power Stadium, in what would be another deal that the Gunners have missed out on.
A sale always looked likely with Edouard set to be out of contract next summer, meaning that the Scottish giants would have lost the 23-year-old on a free transfer.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man scored 22 goals for the Hoops last season but looks unlikely to stay in Glasgow.
Arsenal have already been frustrated in the transfer market this summer in their attempts to sign Emi Buendia from Norwich City.

The Gunners made a move for the Argentine midfielder, even seeing a bid turned down by the Canaries.
They remained interested, only to see Aston Villa swoop in first. The club eventually sealed a £33m move for the player, a deal that could eventually rise to £40m in add ons.
Arteta and Edu will hope that their frustration ends there as they attempt to complete a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves, with Granit Xhaka edging close to a switch to AS Roma.
