The Women’s Premier League started in 2012 but it was not the 2017/2018 season that the Ghana Football Association secured sponsorship for the top-flight.
FreshPak signed on board but the contract was terminated by Normalisation Committee took over.
This season, the League started with clubs still depending on the Ghana FA for finance support.
Chairperson of the Women’s League Board, Madam Hilary Boaten, in an interview with NBSports, stated that her committee is working round the clock to bring in a new sponsor.
“We are in talks with the FA for some support of sponsorship packages, the FA is very much aware and we will continue to push them in that stand,” Boaten said.
”On the sponsorship, we had a meeting with cooperate Ghana for a headline sponsor even before the pandemic, you are aware we had one sponsor before Anas exposè and unfortunately things did not pans out well for them so they pulled out.”
Boaten assures that before the start of next season a headline sponsor will be brought on board.
”We has spoken with many corperate bodies and we hope by the start of next season we get an headline sponsor,” she added.
