Lewandowski scored a hattrick against Viktoria Plzen as Blaugrana had an emphatic 5-1 victory in their UEFA Champions League opener on Wednesday, September 7.

According to Barca Universal, Xavi has now hailed Lewandowski and believes the Poland striker, along with Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland are the best strikers currently in the world.

“I don’t know if Lewandowski is the best striker in Europe, but he is the best striker for us. who else? Benzema too. I think they’re the best right? Haaland too. But it’s difficult to compare them.”

The Barcelona manager snubbed the likes of Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe and Manchester United’s Cristiano from his list of the best 3 forwards.

Meanwhile, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez believes he is already out of compliments for the “amazing” striker after Robert Lewandowski’s hat trick against Viktoria Plzen, ESPN reports.

Since joining the Spanish giants for €45 million from Bayern Munich, Lewandowski has scored eight goals in five games in all competitions.

The 33-year-old forward also moved past Karim Benzema to become the third highest scorer in the history of the Champions League.

The Poland star scored twice in the opening 45 minutes, with Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie also notching a goal in a frantic 45 minutes.
